X-ray and C-arm

X-ray and C-arm are both medical imaging technologies used to visualize the inside of the body for diagnostic or interventional purposes.

X-ray :

  • X-ray imaging uses electromagnetic radiation to create images of the internal structures of the body, such as bones, organs, and tissues. It works by passing X-rays through the body onto a detector, which captures the pattern of the X-rays after they pass through the body. Dense structures like bones absorb more X-rays, appearing white on the image, while less dense structures like organs appear darker. X-rays are commonly used for diagnosing fractures, assessing the condition of organs, and detecting abnormalities.

C-arm :

  • A C-arm is a specialized X-ray imaging device consisting of a C-shaped arm with an X-ray source on one end and a detector on the other. It can be maneuvered around a patient's body to provide real-time X-ray imaging during surgical or interventional procedures. The C-arm is particularly useful in procedures such as orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, and pain management interventions. It allows surgeons and physicians to visualize the placement of instruments, guide catheters, and monitor progress without the need for repeated exposure to radiation.
